When it comes to exercising, although we know the benefits we tend to procrastinate. Sometimes we start well and gradually become inconsistent with the routine till we eventually stop. Work, commitments, family and other demands make adhering to a routine difficult. Here are a few things to help you make sure you follow that routine…

Small steps, large goals: Some people work out for hours and they can be intimidating to you especially if you are just about to start. Don’t be discouraged by this, they were at some point starting out like you and only reached where they are through consistency. Do it with someone: Having a partner engage in the same workout routine is a good way to motivate yourself. This way you are accountable to someone and the synergy makes you enjoy the exercise.

Pick a time that best suits you: Morning workouts ensure that you observe the exercise routine that day. However, if they don’t fit your schedule, don’t force it – you’ll only end up frustrated which might cause inconsistency. Instead, pick a time that works for you and stick with it.

Celebrate Progress: Milestones are important – they serve to remind us of how far we’ve come and encourage us to keep going. Sharing these achievements with our loved ones is a great source of motivation.
